WEST PALM BEACH, Fla – On November 10th at 5p.m. CT, the Southwest Christian High School volleyball team will be playing in the semifinal match to get into the state championship. If they win, they will be playing for a Minnesota state title. Led by retired pro volleyball player Jessy Jones Tow-Arnett, the team has earned the number one seed going into the tournament.

On and off the court Tow-Arnett has been a role model for the girls to follow. Kylie Beckering, a current player, said “Jessy is a very energetic and passionate coach.” She explains how her competitive nature and “high intensity has made [her] play harder.”

Estelle Haugen, a former player of Tow-Arnett’s, is currently playing Division 1 volleyball at the University of Georgia. She has described Jessy as one of the “biggest influences” on her game. After playing two years under Tow-Arnett, Haugen says that “she has great connections to the next level” which has helped Estelle achieve her dreams of playing collegiate volleyball.

One of the biggest lessons Tow-Arnett has taught her players is “that no matter how big the game gets, make sure you are always having fun,” said Haugen. Playing for so many years has given Tow-Arnett a lot of experience and knowledge that she can pass down to her players. Haugen says that she has a wide perspective of the game because she has been able to work with many different coaches and players. Tow-Arnett explains how she was coached by some of the best coaches in the world, and this has made her a good coach.

Tow-Arnett is at her second state showing. She gives credit to the girls who are “enjoying and trusting the process.” She explains how championships are not only won on championship day, and their entire season has been working for this moment. Tow-Arnett said, “They are won by consistently finding a way to help your teammates.”

During the big game, the team must take it one point at a time, Tow-Arnett explains. They are well prepared for this moment and have done a fantastic job trusting Tow-Arnett and the rest of the coaching staff. Tow-Arnett said, “I am so proud of these girls, and I feel so incredibly blessed to be their coach.”
